Mark Masters hired as new Coaches Clinic Coordinator


The USFCA is pleased to announce the hiring of Maître d’Armes Mark Masters as the USFCA Clinic Coordinator.   Maître Masters will be  assisting the USFCA Regional Vice Presidents in coordinating the regional clinics and strengthening the training programs. He will also be developing a system of grassroots coaching development clinics targeting recreational programs. Mark's vision is to develop a system of training for recreational fencing teachers creating multiple feeder programs for local fencing clubs. 

Maître Masters has a long rich history in fencing.  Mark is the founder and head coach of the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia and has produced numerous champions. He is a three weapon Fencing Master, he completed four levels in all three weapons in the USFA Coaches College, and is a certified American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Fitness trainer, one of the most respected and rigorous fitness trainer certifications in the United States.  He holds a Master of Arts & Education degree in Recreational Programming Management and Development from Wayne State University.

USFCA Northeast Regional Coaches Clinic - Nov 4-5, 2017

This is an Introductory and Intermediate fencing coaching clinic featuring experienced and professional coaches Paul Sise, and John Krauss.  Click here to register.

The clinic will focus on coaching the fundamental actions, putting them into group and individual lessons, and how to include footwork as a tactical element in the lessons. 

USFCA Assistant Moniteur, Moniteur, and Prevot practical exams will be available by arrangement at the clinic. Provide the necessary information about your interest in examination when you pre-register here. USFCA Examiner Training will also be given to eligible Prevots and Masters attending.  

Paul Sise and John Krauss are USFCA certified Fencing Masters. Coach Sise is currently Chair of the USFCA's Certification and Accreditation Board. Coach Krauss is a former USFCA Vice-President and Chair of Conference Committee and now serves on the Certification and Accreditation Board.

Schedule: 
9 am till 4 pm each day, with additional time in the evenings for exams as necessary. A general schedule of material will be posted here. Please check back here soon.

Fees:
Save money by preregistering and paying prior to October 13th! The early registration fee is $200.
If you register and pay after October 13th the fee is $250. 
If you can only attend one day, the registration fee is $100 per day before October 13th, $125 per day after the 13th. 

Fencers (non-coaches) wishing to attend and take a lot of lessons for a set fee for the weekend, please contact Concord Fencing Club. Exams have separate fees and are paid through the USFCA website.

Exams: (Optional)

USFCA Assistant Moniteur, Moniteur, and Prevot practical exams will be available.
A limited number of exams will be offered. If you are interested in an exam, please email Paul Sise at paul.sise@pioneerfencing.com.

Each weapon has separate practical exams, so if you would like to be a 3 weapon Moniteur, you'll need to take one written exam but register for, pay for, and take three separate practical exams. If demand for Moniteur exams is high, priority will be given to getting each person
 certified in one weapon rather than having only a of couple people take multiple exams.
