Korfanty among coaches named to 2017-2020 National Coaching Staff

U.S. Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) member Edward Korfanty returns as coach of the U.S. Women’s Saber Team for the 2017-2020 quadrennial after coaching the 2004, 2008, and 2012 quadrennials.  His student 2004 and 2008 individual Olympic gold medalist Mariel Zagunis is the most decorated fencer in American history.  The USFCA awarded Korfanty the 2009 Coach of the Year and the following year he gave a saber clinic with Zagunis at USFCA Annual General Meeting.

Other National Coaching Staff members Buckie Leach and Greg Massialas have also given coaches clinics for the USFCA in the past.  Massialas was the USFCA’s 2010 Coach of the Year. Read more about the USA Fencing’s recently announced National Coaching Staff.

  • We are in the process of updating certifications earned. We are transitioning web masters so there will be a delay in the updates. In the mean time, there is a spreadsheet in the download section that has the list of 2015-2016 certifications. Thank you for your patience.

  • We are currently in search for members that want to contribute to the association by becoming members of our standing committees. One of the committees that we are focused on populating is the Professional Development Committee. There is no requirement for membership other than current membership. If you are interested, let your regional vice president know that you want to serve!
  • The Professional Development Committee shall create education standards and the process of achieving these standards, coordinating their efforts with the Certifications and Accreditation Board and other committees, to assist in meeting the standards and goals of the whole organization. It will conduct and assist in conducting clinics and seminars for fencing coaches and instructors.
