5th Annual Coaches Academy in Beaverton, Oregon
The fifth annual Coaches Academy will take place this year from July 18-25 in Beaverton, Oregon (closest airport Portland) in collaboration with the newly renovated North West Fencing Center. Attendees will enjoy an intensive week of instruction, collaboration, learning, special presentations and certification examinations found nowhere else in the US fencing community.
The hands-on daily 6-hour-long weapon-specific sessions include teaching group and individual lessons, plus special lectures on Armory for the Coach, Winning in the Box, Fencing as a Business, and Plyometrics and Exercises for Injury Prevention for Fencing Coaches. Each weapon group will have an instructor to student ratio of about 5 – 1.
For the past three years, the USFCA has awarded two scholarships per year to attend the Academy. Please apply to the Professional Development Committee for your chance at the scholarships.
The exemplary staff includes Maîtres Cody Mattern, Walid Mahran, Simon Abram, Julien Ouadraogo, Peter Burchard, and NCAA Cornell Head Coach Ariana Klinkov. In addition, there will be special presentations on armory, tactics, strip coaching, footwork, group classes and much more.
Please plan to attend!
