A common culture emerges within epee practice, a vision built around our understanding of performance, our scientific knowledge, our experiences, and the expertise accumulated through years spent in epee fencers or as coaches. Transmission of this culture of training shouldn’t condition individuals towards close-mindedness or dogmatic zeal. On the contrary, epee culture should be open, empowering a fencer in his choices on the strip. Understanding how to transmit this culture is an incredibly complex endeavour. Nevertheless, it is essential to grasp the strategic, tactical and technical elements of high performance epee. The goal of this Clinic is to reflect on the transmission of performance culture in epee and to determine which skills are necessary to navigate the obstacles produced by an opponent.
