Host a Coaching Clinic
Two Types of Fencing Coaching Clinics
As a clinic organizer, one of the first decisions to make is which type of clinic best fits your goals. All USFCA clinics fall into either NCDP Core Clinics or Special Topics Clinics.
 National Coaching Development Core Clinics
Core Clinics are designed to take an entry-level coach from assistant moniteur (Level 2) to maître (Level 5). Participants undergo one formative assessment for every four hours of the clinic, testing their understanding of the topics studied during the clinic. All NCDP clinics must meet the National Standards for Fencing Coaching Clinics, and all instructor(s) must be USFCA-certified Coach Developers. These clinics count toward NCDP certification and CEUs are issued for all NCDP Core Clinics.
Special Topics ClinicÂ
While the preparation of coaches through the NCDP is a major part of our clinic program, we also encourage Special Topics Clinics. These clinics can focus on a variety of topics and can be held online in addition to in-person instruction. Special Topics clinics are vetted by the Professional Development Committee and must meet the National Standards for Fencing Coaching Clinics. These clinics are usually designed with the Level 4 & 5 coach in mind. CEUs are issued for all Special Topics Clinics.Â

Why host a USFCA Clinic?Â
USFCA clinics are vital to continued growth and excellence within our sport. In addition, they are an excellent way to promote your fencing club or institution and earn extra income.Â
Clinics benefit your entire fencing community. They offer a chance for fencers and coaches to work with other fencing professionals, learn and share knowledge, explore new and established theory, and apply best practices to our sport. The clinics support coaches’ development from the beginning level through to the master level.Â
With your help, USFCA will ensure that our coaches increase their knowledge base and gain recognition through approved, level-based certification.
Requirements and benefits for all USFCA National Coaching Development Program and Special Topics clinics:
- All USFCA-approved clinics must meet USFCA National Coaching Clinic Standards.Â
- All USFCA clinics are peer-reviewed by members of the Professional Development Committee (PDC) to ensure that they meet the USFCA standards.Â
- All USFCA clinics award continuing education units (CEUs) to USFCA member participants. The CEUs awarded from a USFCA Clinic are recognized by USA Fencing.
- All USFCA clinic presenters are awarded continuing education hours for professional development.
- All USFCA-approved clinics are advertised on our website, emailed to the membership, and posted on USFCA’s social media accounts.
- All USFCA-approved coaching clinics are open to all fencing coaches. USFCA members receive a discount to USFCA approved clinics. The USFCA is committed to preparing coaches to teach the theory and practice of fencing, but also all other aspects that impact the teaching and coaching of our sport.Â
